Elevator Shaft: Elevator shafts are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!! You can get crushed by the platform or counterweight and/or fall inside the hoistway resulting death or injury depending on the situation. If you happen to look inside of an elevator shaft (cartop station, hoistway access, pit, etc.), please stay behind the door tracks on the landing. Remember, drop keys meant to be used by elevator technicians, maintenance workers, and/or fire department members ONLY.ģ. If an elevator technician does give you a hoistway access door key as a gift (Christmas, birthday, etc.), they MUST remain at home. If you really WANT to see an elevator shaft, have ONLY an elevator technician shut one elevator car off and unlock the hoistway doors for you, NOT A BUILDING OWNER! Building owners may not know the dangers of elevator shafts than we do. Those tools can get you or others killed if they are misused. Drop Keys/Door Keys/Hoistway Access Keys: NEVER play with drop keys! Especially WITHOUT an elevator technician present. Building owners and elevator technicians would ask you the same exact thing I just mentioned above.Ģ. If someone in the building you know who controls the elevator escorts you in, DO NOT GET CLOSE OR TOUCH ANYTHING! They are high voltage machinery. You could get killed or seriously injured by moving parts. Elevator Machine Room: Never enter an elevator machine room without permission from either elevator technicians or a building owner. If someone in the building who works there caught you doing that, you could be thrown out of the facility and possibly press charges on you for trespassing.ġ. That includes pounding on the buttons, joyriding, switching on different modes, etc. Playing around in the elevator is not allowed. NEVER EVER pull on the closing doors! This can cause SERIOUS PROBLEMS to others as it can break down depending on what you're doing.Ĩ. Tampering with the emergency devices (alarm, stop switch, phone) is strictly prohibited unless if it's a real emergency.ħ.
Never jump or horseplay around in the elevator cab, it can render the elevator useless for other people. When you hold the door for people to enter or exit the elevator, use the "DOOR OPEN" button.Ħ. Please be extra cautious as the elevator car may not be leveled at the floor properly.ĥ. When the elevator stops at your floor, exit the elevator car right away when the door opens. After boarding the elevator, push your desired floor number and face forward along with other people during the ride.Ĥ. When the elevator door opens, please step to the side of the doorway and let other people exit first before entering. When calling the elevator, push the button and wait.Ģ.
